Outstanding. Even at 11 and 14 minutes, respectively, the two title compositions here are tight and executed cleanly, and the rich recording quality captures all the sonic nuances beautifully. Jazzist guitar and bass playing couple with emotive singing and eventually build into propulsive psychedelic (seriously) crescendos.Assessing the impact of this EP with the benefit of hindsight, this should be said: Cancel/Sing is a relatively short release, and because it didn't usher in any larger stylistic movement, or even (we know now) mark the beginning of an important band's career, it's not exactly right to call this a masterpiece. However, it is still undeniably a fantastic, basically flawless piece, and utterly deserving of 5 stars.Highly, highly recommended.
