X-Press 2 - Makeshift Feelgood FLAC download

This album definitely deserves a higher rating. I think it's a brilliant, and well-rounded musical adventure. It mainly covers various different house genres, but also morphs into an electro pop style with 'Light My Soul' and 'Last Man' (both songs feature Kissing The Pink, perhaps this is linked?). It's not at all a cheesy sound, but something that can be sung along to, bopped along to and still has plenty of soul. Basically, if you like house in a bouncing, slightly soulful flavour, you'll get into this. I wont review every song (though I probably could) - only the brilliant opening track (however, I feel the high level of quality doesn't stop at any point). This is one of those albums you can play through without having to touch the skip button. If you haven't heard the album yet, then stop reading here (spoilers below). 'Give It' is a brilliant opener. It starts off with some simple piano, promising violin and a steady voice - all the elements of a lyrical house tune, yet it takes its time getting there. It leaves you wondering where it's going to go, as slowly the tempo shifts up and the beats sneaks in. A brilliant song.
