Sleeve notes:
We should really re-title this Slate and Their Mates, as that's the essence of the tracks here, and the reason for their inclusion.

Cotton Club used to live on the other side of the road from Slate A&R man John Mayoh, in a little villiage called Bromley Cross.

The UK remix of the Black Bulldog track was remixed by Mark Currie and Andy Daniels of II Kinky, one of whom works in Slate's local revord shop, Beat St. (who also tipped the label off to the track), and the other of whom used to be the chief at their favourite bistro. (These two also resurface on the album's closing DCHQ track).

SJ and Baby Doc are bosom buddies of Slate's general manager Nicole Mosley, although SJ also had a number 1 hit in Italy, and Baby Doc is one of the new kings of the underground!

Slate supremo John Osbourne handles dj and pa bookings for some of the UK's top djs, one of these being Kevin G Bird. The Birdman is also a top serving dj on their club promo company XOP.

John O'Halloran is another long standing Mayoh matey, so much so that the two remix under the pseudonym Mano Y Mano (_M_ayoh _an_d _O_'Halloran) (for example see Bassrate).

And Patrick Prins, since giving Slate it's first ever release, has become a firm favourite in the Slate office with his warm sense of humour and lack of pretension.

If that euphemism is true, then Slate should be around for a long time to come.
