The sound quality on the first cassette release is CRAP. Heavily distorted.The pro-printed release is MUCH better.

I checked directly with the label if the clear version was a "pirate" release, this what I've got back from them: "I doubt someone pressed pirate copies. Nightbirds was an underground label, so according to its tradition, releases went as tape- pro-covers, not as dubbed/ pro-done tapes. This means trades were in form of covers+ master CDR. Each label dubbed own tapes, which later circulated everywhere. We traded with this distro (dunkelheit-produktionen.de) as tapes+ covers, so bad quality of sound is their fault I guess."

bosso3rd Do you mean the one on clear cassette? I recently bought one from www.dunkelheit-produktionen.de and the cassette itself is clear, without any marking. Not sure if I'm a victim of some piracy whatnot, but booklet looks very pro printed. And the sound IS crap so I'm looking for any leads that would help me to determine if I got scammed or what. The first release had no printing on the tape itself, mine's just black, I don't know if there are other colors though. The cover looks nice but the sound on these were so bad that the band decided to reprint new ones to be sold on tour. Some were also sold from the Licht von Dämmerung website. All the new pressings were blue with printed text, as in the picture here on discogs, but kept the cover from the Night Birds Record release. These new ones were of much higher sound quality.Most of the tapes that circulate are the old bad pressing I think, since the new good one was sold only (from what I can tell) through the band/LVD.It's possible that they made different colors of the first printing so your copy could very well be an official one. The first time I played mine was in the car and I didn't even recognize the songs, so I to thought that I got the wrong tape somehow.Hope that helps! :)

There is also a limited 2xLP pressing on blue marble vinyl, not sure of the numbers.
