Sounds great, except for the sibilance on Butterfly... running a 2M Black, I agree this has been cut quite hot, but the issue really only affects the one song.
This printing is crisp, clear, and quiet as a mouse. It's a pressing worthy of one of the greatest alt-rock albums of all time
Amazing album
The greatest compliment to pay this is how incredible everything sounds. Oh, and how much more noticeable Matt Sharp's backing vocals are. The definitive pressing of this album.
anyone notice really bad distortion/sibilance on rivers vocals on butterfly, or is it just bad igd/mis aliged cart on my end?thanks
I think this has been cut quite hot and i find the tone quite bright at times...which may cause some sibilance.
I got this on my pinkerton 2002 vinyl release, thought the same... weird.
Boko.. things did impove when i upgraded my cartridge, but its still there.
oops, @thecloudsbelow :)
@Nicohnlt I too notice the sibilance on some tracks (even in the middle of the record)... then other tracks sound great. I think its in the pressing or the original tapes...
Incredible pressing, so much life added to this album, it's like a lid was taken off of it.
yeah, i had the 2m red and it was bad.. got the 2m blue and its better, almost way better. still there though.
Snake Rocking
Yes, unfortunately there's sibilance on that track. My cartridge is set up fine, it's just the record, but something like this would go away with something more expensive. What cartridge do you have? I have the Ortofon 2M Red
I'm a Russian Occupant
did you notice a lot of distortion/sibiliance on rivers vocals on the last track, butterfly is it?.. the kinda acoustic bedroom jam.. last track side b.. wondering if its just my alignment and igd magnified.
Also, there's a LOT more detail I noticed. For instance, on the beginning of El Scorcho you can hear how lively and real the tom drums sound (along with everything else); adding to what I previously said of this sounding as if you were in the studio with the band.
Mastered by Krieg Wunderlich, sounds really great.
