Early 90s UK psudo-kraut recording, probably by folks involved around the Sun Dial clan (as with all the Psi-Fi releases).

33 minutes of pure, unadulterated, psychedelic Krautrock courtesy of Pyramid: an obscure studio project produced by Toby Robinson aka The Mad Twiddler. These sessions were recorded circa 1975–76 in Cologne for the underground Pyramid label, which was operated by Toby and his friend Robin Page (the Fluxus artist). During that time, Toby worked as engineer and assistan at varios studios in Cologne, including the famous Dieter Dierks studios, where most of the albums from the Ohr/Pilz/Cosmic Courier catalogue were registered. Having access to the studios during dead hours, Toby recorded lot of sessions just for fun without any commercial interest, featuring friends and musicians who frequented the studios and the underground art/music scene of Cologne. Some of these sessions were later relesed as hand–made vinyl micro pressings on his Pyramid label with help from artist Robin Page.

This ISNT a long lost recording form the 1970s! What a joke. Theres just TOO many sounds synths, guitars etc that give it all away no matter how "faux authentic" this band tried to be. I would rather have a band/label admit the music was influenced by a certain era than lie to sell a few recordings it cheapens the experience!

This, however, is a genuine late 70's release. From Sweden, tho.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IngWf67jWV4

The album is not listed in any kraut rock discographical guide, because it is not a krautrock recording but a hoax. The session had been recorded during the early 90ies by people connected with the group Sun Dial and the Acme label. All 6 of the Psi-Fi albums are pseudo-kraut albums and are to be considered as 90ies releases by UK musicians.

Gorgeous German acid rock project. The obscure and underrated "Dawn Defender" is constantly mysterious, abstract and experimental, delivering interlocking electronic soundscapes punctuated by electric guitar manipulations and echoing effects. The album was originally released Tony Robinson for Pyramid label. A serious "kosmische" krautrock manifestation, a perfect & strange dreamy-like musical journey throw ultra psych textures. Pretty closed to the Cosmic Jokers (first) and A.R & the Machines. ENGLISH SYNOPSIS FROM: http://www.progarchives.com/

Toby Robinson, not Tony. But it might be funnier if it had have been Tony Robinson... Also, the debate rumbles on, but these are generally (although by no means unanimously) considered to be 90s hoaxes from the uk. I'm inclined to that view, just because of the production and some of the stylisms... some kraut authorities insist they are genuine, though perhaps they're in on the hoax, who knows?
