Kebu is already a legend in my heart, probably the most talented electronic musician of the XXIst century. His music is all analogue, all carefully crafted with passion, played live on keyboards with a big smile on his face... could you ask for something more ? I don't think so.To get back to the release, finally we get it on vinyl after his fantastic debut album "To Jupiter and back" and the single 'Deep Blue' (which is on the release). Overall, it's an energetic, positive, shining album like no other, and I guess I will play it again and again this summer. I just love the trance influences (especially in part 3) coupled with jarresque shouting leads and 80's dancing patterns, it's a brillant melting pot, the output is just magnificent. Very catchy, dancy (much more than TJAB actually), also spacy in most intros, and finally cinematic with some mindblowing guitar leads (part 5), it's a new (wide and rich) journey into the Kebu's universe to take. I can't decide which are my favourite parts (I would say the whole album), everything is so catchy there's nothing to be left behind :-)
Spot-on review, couldn't have said it better myself. :)Just a couple more things I noticed: Although I am not aware of any direct connection of Kebu to the computer demo-scene (aside from a live performance at Assembly 2013), "Perplexagon Part 4" is indeed a bit reminiscent of the works of demo-scene composers like Jonne Valtonen/Purple Motion. And I do in fact have a favourite: the B-side opener "Dawn", which happens to be a unicorn - there are many Christmas songs in popular music, but this is the first pop song I heard where I was instantly thinking: "Easter song" (as in "resurrection", not "Easter bunny"). :)I'm sure this was not intended, but who needs allegory when you can applicability... ;)
