Notes

Giorgis Manolakis was born in Heraklion , on the island of Crete in 1982. At the age of eight he started studying the laouto under the guidance of his father Kostas Manolakis, who is one of the foremost laouto players of his generation who performed as well as recorded with some of the most exceptional musicians of the Cretan tradition such as Kostas Mountakis, Thanasis Skordalos, Nikos Xylouris, Leonidas Klados, Gerasimos Stamatogiannakis and many more..

Six years later, parallel with his studies of the laouto he started practicing the bouzouki under the guidance of various exceptional teachers such as Trichalis Kostas, Iosif Kerpelis, Andreas Stefanakis.

Today Giorgis is considered to be one of the foremost musicians of his generation. He has collaborated with many renowned musicians and composers in concerts as well as in recordings such as Ross Daly, Hainides, Naseer Shamma, Psarantonis, Giorgis Xylouris(Psarogiorgis), Vasilis Stavrakakis, Stelios Petrakis, Christos Costantinou, Socratis Malamas, Zohar Fresco, Pedram Khavar Zamini, Miles Jay and many more…

In the following years he has been studying and experimenting on the boulgari, lyra, mandolin, guitar, baglama, tzoura, saz and Afghan rabab.

Giorgis Manolakis has already released two albums, " To Spathi " and " Ditto"
