Notes
TRACK 19: BASS MEKANIK - FRONT END ALIGMENTUse this track to tune the transient characteristics of your system. Live percussive sounds fly around the front of your vehicle quickly revealing many problems assocuated eith improperly designed speakers and enclosures, phase alingment, and speaker placement.
To pass this test your system must be sonically accurate, reproducing the entire frequency range from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Any speakers reproducing frequencies above 70 Hz should be loacted in the front of the vehicle, and all speakers should be the same distance from the listening position. Those who labor to achieve this level of excellence will be rewarded with transient excellence and sonic realism only from in a truly high-end system.
TRACK 20: BASS MEKANIK - LIVE BEAT
Simply grasp the volume knob and twist it to the far right. Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for transients that will make your eyes blink.
TRACK 21: BASS MEKANIK - RESONANCE TEST
Sweep 0-120 1st Min
Sweep 50-170 2nd Min
Sweep 80-200 3rd Min
Use track 21 to determite the resonant frequency of your vehicle. First make a rough estimate of your vehicles resonant frequency. This can be done with a tape measure and a calculator.
1) Measure the distance from the rear of the vehicle to the firewall in FEET. To convert inches to feet divide inches by 12.
2) Use the following formula to calculate the * wave and 1/4 wave resonant frequency.
* Wave resonance = 1130/FEET/2
1/4 Wave Resonance = 1130/FEET/4
Try both resonant frequencies when testing in step 3.
3) Play the track that sweeps over the resonant frequency of the vehicle. Use a dB meter to determite which frequency is the loudest. Note the time on the CD when the vehicle reaches peak SPL.
For Track 21
First Minute Frequency = (Time in seconds) x2
Second Minute Frequency = (Time in seconds) x2 + 50
Third Minute Frequency = (Time in seconds) x2 + 80
TRACKS 22-99: BASS MEKANIK - FREQUENCY
If these tracks are played on a system that has a stereo sub system, the tone will appear to fade in and out. If played on a mono sub system they will have a constant tone. This is because each channel (Right and Left) contain different frequencies and interfere with each other when played at the same time. For example, track 20 which contains 20 Hertz actually contains both 20 and 20.5 Hertz. 20 Hertz is recorded on the left channel and 20.5 Hertz is recorded on the right channel. Since SPL systems only require a mono signal, we have utilized the extra channel to give you twice the test tones on 1/2 the number of tracks. To determine which channel is the loudest you will first need to connect your sub amplifiers to a mono signal. If you are not comfortable with this please consult a Mekanik. Next try both channels and try several tracks above and below the track that contains your resonant frequency.
