My cover card is a different color. More cold. Lighter than what is pictured. Everything else the same.

The Drum Club take EXIT 23 and give it more of a club treatment, while maintaining the dark atmospherics of the original. Their first mix pounds hard and deep, while their second focuses on the breathiness. The second mix merges into the third, which is almost trancey at its start, before the beat drops out and it lingers in moody ambiance for the remainder of its run time. Outstanding.

This record should not go unoticed! My choice of track would be side two"the return",it comes from the very early days of techno when 'trance' was developing. This ep is a wonderful slice of Belgian/Dutch dancefloor madness which hypnotised warehouses all over Europe. It really was one of the most psycadelic sounds to come out after Chicago's acid house. The deep, bassy riff rumbles along melodically sucking you in mentally and gets your body moving. The very trippy vocals on this track go well and add an almost tribal feel to the sound. As I have said in some of my other reviews, this track was extensively played by Londons 'Lost' host Steve Bicknell during the 1992-94 era at the 'Vox' in Brixton.Sounds fantastic on the big system, beautiful music,RESPECT!

A great song refuses to die. This new version has been greatly enhanced and complicated. Gone is the eastern sounding wailing that grave it a real other world and timely feel to it. Excellent dark trance trip!

Still one of thee finest ep's from that time. Drum Club remix two and three form in fact one long track which should be played from start to end in order to get full ritual effect. Thee repetitive use of thee "return to the source" vocal sample and thee hypnotising loop (by which track 3 starts), make this Exit 23 a rather dark but very deep & intense (16-minute) dance trip. As u might remember, PWOG was mainly known as an exciting live act (they did quite a few in thee early '90) and this release comes closest to thee live experiences I have had back then.
