Manemanu
Mocha Supremo is dark and sweet, just as the name implies. As Buscemi’s first album, it’s goes down well, warming the body and giving it a much needed boost of energy. “It Might as Well Be Quiet…” throws down some breaks and a pumping beat, but it never overwhelms the music or the tiny Astrud Gilberto sample; “Noise’s Leasing” follows the same pattern. Buscemi prioritizes the mood over the rhythm, and that helps elevate his music over the others. There’s also a strong infusion of jazz in the mix -- like on “Fingersnappin’ After Dark” -- but it’s just enough to get the point across. “Desole” is my favorite track –- sort of dark and mysterious, but groovy at the same time.
