Limited to 500 yet as I write this 572 have this record on Discogs and I know you can still buy it, the record label website still says it's limited to 500 and they still have 7 left! There's also 99 listed for sale on here!

I have to agree with the other reviews here; this is an essential piece of recording if you are a John Carpenter fan, but even if you have never seen the movie, you will probably want to after hearing this record. The sequencing of dialogue and incidental music actually tells "the story" of the movie in condensed format, and boy is it some story. It's surprising how vividly the characters emerge without the assistance of visuals. In fact, one of the remarkable aspects of this LP is that it allows the listener to focus exclusively on the intelligently scripted dialogue and interesting combination of sound effects and cornball music that make Dark Star a uniquely entertaining experience. The fidelity of the soundtrack is very good and my pressing was extremely quiet. The fidelity of the bonus 7" is pretty close to audiophile quality, and I'm not sure how they were able to pull that off. This is especially true of the elevator music non-hit "When Twilight Falls on NGC 891." I'm so glad a good friend told me about this release so that I could get in on the ground floor of owning this soon to be classic record.

Definitely a good record if you're a fan of John Carpenter. Only confusing bit is that the neither the 12" or 7" record's sides are labeled, though I guess that fits in with the movie.

Essentially just a collection of dialogue, sound effects and random music from a b-movie comedy, yet a stellar release from WRWTFWW and most definitely a collector's item. The included 7" with previously unreleased material and the fact that this is only a 500 copy pressing will definitely make this a desired release among the many fans of John Carpenter.
