A great old school experiment of melting together trance, acid, techno, all juiced up with some occasional broken beats (namely the last track, Moonchild), dating from an era when not everything suffered from the painful syndrome of being in need to satisfy a certain category or genre bin. Not exactly as memorable or dance floor anthemic as, for example, Heckmann's timeless Amphetamine, but these tracks display skillful manipulation of drive, fine percussion work, never over blown or intense acid, with great and catchy melody work. Wavescape is all about a really light, addictive, repeating and hypnotic lead throughout, while Moonchild, the most abstract track here, has these really sci-fi melodies and spiralling layers getting ready for a launch around milky way. The A side keeps in touch more with the club side of things, although both tunes are miles ahead of your average nervous rave anthem. Art Mechanique is really forceful, as it rapidly rolls along, and all the effects rise and decreae in loudness as the music goes on. Chiswick Days, maybe my favorite here, has very fast and complex paercussion pattern, as it strikes a balance between break beats and striaght four to the floor madness. To make things even better, a steady acid synth pierces throughout, though never tarnishing the effect of the dreamy melody which enters the loop every once in a while. Oh, and those random and weird noises which pull their way in the background don't ruin anything either, they're awesome. This is a great example of a track where many good things come together and forge something even better. Overall, the entire Spectral Emotions series is very worth your time and money, so this is no different. If you are a fan of old school acid, and if you appreciate virtually any of Heckmann's old school output, you need this. You need it together with chapters One and Two, because odds are if one of those gets you hooked' the other won't fail either.
