Unfortunately, the repress has bootleg quality. On a decent playback system (Technics 1210, Shure M97xE cart, Cambridge Azur 640P preamp) and using a copy of Contact Funk '12 which was mint (except for being cleaned by an Okki Nokki), there were a lot of clicks, pops, and crackles. It could be they mastered the reissue off a used Mosaic copy.I mean, this is great musically -- one of my favorite releases on Mosaic -- and the original from '97 is somewhat hard to find, just saying the reissue doesn't sound too good.
