Pretty much everything has been said here. Just in case you are wondering, the difference between MOK 37 and MOK 37 ½ is the first track. On the MOK 37 we have the Zippy Mix while on the ½ version we can hear the Original Mix (the one from MOK 32). Also Speedfreak and the famous Flamman & Abraxas Mix changed positions on the B-Side.Special mention gets the Speedfreak Mix, I like his approach of creating new darker harmonies to the main melody in the second half of the song.

This has to be one of the best worst songs I've ever listened to.

I was in Germany with Joy Ryder and pop songwriter Mariana Ensenzburg when we found out from her friend Mariana that Technohead's "I Wanna Be A Hippy," was playing and we called David Peel to inform him that he was being Plagiarized. It turned into his #1 Gold record, 1995 playing in the BeNeLux countries UK and Germany. Rock In Peace, David Peel, friend of 50 years!

This soooooo needs a re-release. Infectious slammin beat under that joyous cheeky vocal, "I wannbe a hippy and I wanna get stoned", how can anyone not smile when this drops. Hardcore never died, timeless.

It's a shame there is no 7" version of this record but perhaps Gabber and seven inches just don't mix. ;-)

If u ever happen to pick this up or find it anywhere avoid the radio mix as its absolute cheese! Go for the Carl Cox mix as its outstanding and the best version i've heard other than the original mix. its versatile enough to use in a an oldskoolhard house set or if u pitch it right down u can use it in a trance set absolute corker!

I Wanna Be A Hippy is probably the best sold gabber record which was ever made. The 12" sold about 15000 copies, and the cd-single even sold about a million copies worldwide.

Rather hard hitting happy hardcore with the typical fast beats and speeded up vocals. The remixes were great, specially the dreadlock holiday remix.

One of the most accessable happy hardcore tracks. Its cheesier than the French but its digestable and very fun. The GTO remix (an alias of Technohead) bares no resemblance to the original what so ever. In fact it is quite a good techno track. Incidentally GTO / Technohead is also Tricky Disco who had a few hits with Warp Records in the very early 90s.
