There was quiet in Baghdad after the first two or three hours of attack. The sky was lit then by almost constant streams of anti-aircraft fire, red and yellow, looping and swirling across the blue-grey of the night. Bright flashes illuminated the horizon; there was what could have been a direct hit on a power station..Desert Storm

I love the track 'Scoraig '93'. I was lucky enough to have some dealings with the Desert Storm crew during the 1990s and cannot say enough positive things about them. The way ' Scoraig '93' builds and builds, the acid line, the breakdown - it's all pretty much perfect - probably much like the free parties that inspired it. I wish I had been there.

"Desert Storm" is a beautiful track which is quite unique in its style, especially for the time. I loved it when it came out and still do. Would be interesting to see who are behind this. Beware of the trancemaster version though, which is edited and ruined.

I've always been one to give props to some of music's more underrated moments and this ep is one of the most under appreciated releases that the mighty Soma has ever pressed. The big track was "Socraig '93" which is outstanding in itself, but there is just something about the self-titled cut "Desert Storm". For me it ranks as one of those records like "Convextion" or "Give Your Body" that just stops me from whatever I'm doing and seems to have me spellbound with it's shimmering acid lines.

Desert Storm is a beautiful hypnotic track - it starts off with a news reporter from the Gulf War, talking about the fires in Baghdad, then in come the sweeping ambient synth sounds, building up until the beats come in, then off it goes. Scoraig '93 is named after a 3 day long free party on the Scoraig peninsula in northern Scotland, near Ullapool. The party could only be reached by fishing boat, as there are no roads to Scoraig. I didn't go, but I know someone who did....it got pretty messy!
