misery
Decent german ambient (or should i say ambiant?) compilation here back in the days when there was no guidlines to ambient/techno/trance sounds. This is the sort of stuff i classified as trance back in those days. One of the two standout tracks kick off the album, it's by Ralf Hildenbeutel. "Follow Me" is personally my favorite on here as well as by Ralf in general. The warmth makes you reflect towards your childhood, true cinematic movie type music with this one. "Coming back" has this new agey feel to it with it's tribal beats and soaring majestic feel. Slightly cheesey but it's passable. Dominic Woosey lends his talent with a track off his Straylight cd here. By far the deepest track on this cd. Dominic during his period of 1993-1995 output always had such a scientific sounding approach to his productions, they all sound like they have been constructed up in the lab. Real quality with this one even if the sounds do not stand the test of time unlike his Mysteries of Science material from those days which is sublime. Still "Stray Down, First Light" gets a nod from me for it's eerie, haunting bellows and analog drifts from the darker side of german ambient days. Even Baked Beans seminal german ambient classic "Heintz 1" gets drowned out by the more vibrant works on here...
