The Booker T Spiritual House Mix works well in a garage house set, though I don't mix in from the very beginning of the track - the intro vox stomp (no pun intended) over everything else. The other tracks are of no use to a house DJ.

Where Sounds Of Blackness broke new ground crossing over from the gospel genre to dance clubs around the world with "The Pressure," Kirk Franklin & Nu Nation --- with a little help from Salt of Salt 'n' Pepa --- managed to do the almost unthinkable: crossover from gospel to top 40 outlets in the States *and* to MTV. "Stomp" was the first gospel song to be played on the video network... a feat that many expected Sounds Of Blackness to do, especially given the wind beneath their wings of Executive Producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. But Franklin had a devoted following which he built by consistently releasing albums that are true to traditional gospel structure but are infused with contemporary R&B rhythms and hooks. "Stomp" is the quintessential example of Franklin's signature hybrid sound: a hook you can't get out of your head, backed by funky guitar licks and organ stabs that practically command you to get up and dance, coupled with the infectious energy of the choir singers (Nu Nation) - the only way to describe it would be to paraphrase Madonna ... "I'm not religious ... but I feel so moved ...I feel such love it makes me want to pray..." Guess that was their whole point in the first place.
